Early Bracket Busters

Notre Dame is out, thanks to Old Dominion. So is Vanderbilt and Richmond, with tips of the hat to Murray State and St. Mary’s for screwing my brackets up a bit. So far, three of the seven teams that have advanced were ranked 10 or higher. The biggest ALMOST shocker of the day was Villanova squeaking past Robert Morris in Overtime, thanks to some questionable calls late.

Could have been worse, I guess. I had Notre Dame and Villanova in my Sweet 16. That would have been real bad if both teams were knocked out in the first round. yes, it’s early with only two of the teams playing, but my Final Four is still in tact: Kansas, Kansas State, Villanova and Kentucky with Kentucky winning it all.

I think Notre Dame’s 51-50 loss had the most “edge of your seat” final moments, when this 3-pointer had all but gone through the net, before rimming out. You have to feel bad for him.. You know he’ll be 50, waking up to nightmares of that shot rimming out. Check out the video, it should start right before the guy shoots.
