Strikeforce News: Overeem vs Rogers is officailly for Heavyweight Title
Strikeforce has been non-committal on whether or not the fight would be for Overeem’s belt after it was announced that they would be fighting earlier this month. As of today, Scott Coker and Strikeforce have officially made it for his Championship Belt. Overeem returns to Strikeforce for the first time since 2007, where he defeated Paul Buentello for the Heavyweight Title. This will be his first title defense. Rogers gets a shot despite losing to Fedor by KO last November.
Quick Hit. I guess. No way Rogers should be getting the title shot. Did the Fedor fight not count or something? But on the other hand, Overeem shouldn’t even have the title. he won it in 2007 and this is his first title defense? In the words of Brock Lesnar, “That’s a make-believe belt.” Seriously, that title is a joke right now. Strikeforce may have had no choice to make this for the title, but I still don’t like it. Switch up the fights. Fedor in place of Rogers, and then have Rogers fight Werdum. Easy fix. Unless Fedor is leaving Strikeforce….
