Tiger Woods made his return to golf yesterday after a long hiatus. We all know about the sex scandal, so I am going to steer clear of that issue.
So how did Tiger play, one may ask? Well he came out and shot better in Augusta than he ever has in an opening round there. For the first time in 16 appearances at the Masters, he shot under 70 in an opening round, shooting a 68. Which puts him only 2 shots off the leader, 50 year old Fred Couples.
Not only did he shoot his first sub 70 ever in the opening round in Georgia, he also shot a personal best for the front nine, had two eagles in a round for the first time, and made an amazing shot on the ninth hole.
Tiger was off of the ninth fairway in the light rough with nothing but trees in between he and the green. The hole had a hard dog leg left, yet Tiger somehow managed to not only get around the trees, but he put the ball on the green within feet of the pin. This shot, if you have yet to see it, was like something out of a video game.
So what does this mean? Well there are still 3 days left in the tourney, so anything can happen, but I believe that Tiger has shut some people up. This is exactly what he needed to do. Come out, play golf, and make people forget. Congrats Tiger on a spectacular opening round.
