The tweet: Charlie Villanueva before the Pistons’ game against Toronto on Monday night: “Toronto tonight at the palace, sorry Toronto fans, have love for u fans but Detroit is going to win.”

Then:  “Guarantee win tonight, yeah I said it.”

The result: Toronto won 111-97, and Villanueva finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

The lesson: Don’t guarantee a win when your team is 26-55.
