UFC News: Two more events have venues

Well, almost.

UFC officials have contacted the Utah Athletic Commission in order to reserve August 1 for the next UFC on Versus event. Bill Colbert of the UTAC said the application is for an event to be held at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake Cirty, home of the Utah Jazz.

Also, sources close to the UFC state that UFC 117 will take place somewhere in northern California, possibly Oakland, on August 7. The Oracle Arena in Oakland is available, which has a capacity of 19,500. UFC 117 is expected to feature a middleweight title bout between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.

However, neither show has been officially announced by the UFC.

Quick Hit: Where there’s smoke there is fire. Dana has talked about going to Utah so I’m sure that’s a done deal as long as the application goes through. As for the California venue, I think the Oracle Arena would do just fine. And I can’t wait for Anderson to smash Sonnen.
