UFC News: Thiago Tavares injured

The lightweight bout between Thiago Tavares and Melvin Guillard that was scheduled for the preliminary portion of the upcoming UFC 114 event has been scrapped, according to MMAJunkie.com. Tavares reportedly hyper-extended his elbow during training and had to pull out of the fight due to the injury.

UFC officials are busy looking for a replacement to take on Guillard.

UFC 114 airs live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV on May 29, headlined by a #1 contender bout in the light heavyweight division between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans.

Quick Hit: Well that’s bad news. Tavares vs. Guillard had all the makings of Fight of the Night. Now we are subject to a replacement fighter. Good thing the lightweight division is stacked with talent and we may not lose out afterall. Will wait and see who they replace him with before I judge.
