Michael Jordan is no LeBron James
If Michael Jordan was in LeBron’s shoes this offseason, what would he have done? I think most already assumed he wouldn’t have called up free agent superstars to join forces so he could beat the dreaded Pistons. Well, on Sunday, the man himself was asked by ESPN exactly what he would have done.
“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team.’ But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”[pullquote]In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys. [/pullquote]
That’s kind of a backhanded neutral answer. Let me translate that for you guys: “I’m still the best. I proved that by beating the best guys around, not joining forces to make a mockery of the blood, sweat and tears it takes to win a championship. Thank you very much for recognizing my greatness. Bow down to the One True King.”
Or something like that.

I was ready to dismiss whatever he said as arrogant drivel once I saw it was Jordan talking. But then I read it. And he's right. Jordan had a good team around him, granted. But he beat his competition. He didn't join it.
Is it good or bad that LBJ didn't have the ego to try and force a title while in Cleveland? Or try to force the Cavs to bring in some more pieces?
I don't know.
Thats what made MJ the best.
An outrageous killer instinct.
No one in the League wants to compete the way MJ did.
And don't say Kobe.
Did we forget Kobe wanted out of LA because he didn't have enough support?
MJ never demanded a trade because Brad Sellers and Ed Nealy couldn't catch an outlet pass.
