Reggie Bush to be stripped of 2005 Heisman Trophy

Former University of Southern California superstar runningback, Reggie Bush, is expected to be stripped of his 2005 Heisman Trophy by the end of September, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports. The Heisman trust has been conducting its own independent investigation into Bush’s eligibility since the NCAA ruled in June that Bush had been ineligible to play due to committing multiple violations by accepting cash, gifts and other impermissible benefits while playing for the USC Trojans. The award will remain vacant.

Bush would become the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have the trophy taken away.

USC president C.L. Max Nikias announced in July that the the university would be returning its copy of Bush’s Heisman Trophy to the trust, stating that they (the Trojans) would only honor and respect athletes who “did not compromise their athletic program or the opportunities of future USC student-athletes.”

Reggie Bush has yet to comment on the matter.

I believe he did say that, but what does that matter? He still played, and he still dominated. I don't think they should erase anything. Not the wins, not the trophy, not anything.

It's not like he was on PEDs. Then I could see an argument.

He ALLEGEDLY took money or whatever. Big deal. I'm pretty sure nearly all college football superstars take some form of "money." And that money didn't help him on the field, which is where the Heisman is won.

Bush has yet to comment on his award being vacated, but he has said before that he’d give the Heisman back “if he could”.

I have no idea what that means unless he pawned it off.

He’s let USC burn to the ground while collecting his millions from the Saints.

Until he admits he messed up and makes some type of restitution to the University he’ll deserve every bit of erasure of his time there.
