Last Night’s Picks:
Tim – Landry Fields – 28 P1P
John – Raymond Felton – 32 P1P
Tim:
As I was following the boxscore last night, I was constantly reminded that it’s just one of those seasons. You can’t explain it. Landry Fields can score 50+ P1P on a night with his double bonus and should be able to exceed that with a match-up against the Wolves. But of course he didn’t. He struggled to even score a bucket and ended with only two points on the night. Thank God he had ten boards.
John:
Raymond Felton put up 32 P1P’s last night and that is about what I was expecting against the lowly Timberwolves. I was hoping for a little bit more, but I’m not going to be upset with a night over 30.
NBA.com’s Expert Pick for Tonight – Jason Terry – Mavs
“The Mavs are rolling, and I look for Jason Terry’s instant offense off the bench to help continue that against the Warriors. Golden State is close to dead last in points allowed, and since Dirk is off the board, Terry is the next leading scorer for this Dallas team. Despite being a sixth man, he logs starter minutes, and has been registering 22.7 PRAs a game. The Warriors give up 31 at his position. This should be an above average night. Looking back, since these two teams have not met yet, Terry had his best PRA average against Golden State last year, coming in at 29.8, while clocking the same overall minutes and production that he has thus far this season. All those numbers put him in a great situation to succeed on this night.”
Our Picks for Tonight:
Tim – Nicolas Batum
John – Jason Terry
Tim:
With Andre Miller being forced to sit this one out with a suspension, Nicolas Batum will be starting in his place against the fast paced Suns. The fact that Batum is getting a start, as well as the fact that he will be handling an offense without a true point guard in the line-up against a team that will speed up the slow Blazers makes Batum a nice choice tonight.
John:
I agree with the expert tonight. It’s not a pick I’m really excited about, but it’s a solid one and Jason Terry is a guy you are going to have to take sometime during the season and now’s just as good of a time as ever against a bad defensive team like Golden State. I’d like to go with Dirk Nowitzki tonight, but I’ve already taken him and I’m not using my bonus on him. I’m going to keep that in my pocket for a night when I want to take Blake Griffin again. But, if you have Dirk available, then take him, but if not, Jason Terry isn’t a bad second option.
