NBA Pick One – Post 46 – December 13, 2010

Join Sportsnickel’s NBA Pick One League HERE!

I would like to apologize for missing the post yesterday. Both John and I were busy and unable to post.

Yesterday’s Picks:

Tim – Nene – 35 P1P

John – David West – 17 P1P

Tim:

I am very happy with my Nene pick which rounded-out a very successful Pick One week. Nene’s 35 was the second highest total for his season. Watch out, NBA. Nene has scored 26 points in his last two games.

John:

David West’s performance against the 76ers pretty much summed up my pick one week. I had a couple of disappointing performances from some guys, but David West’s was most frustrating. The Hornets have played pretty well this season, but somehow they get blown out by the lowly 76ers and only manage 70 points with West finishing with 17 P1P. But, it happens. This is a frustrating game and every now and then a pick that looks good on the surface turns into nothing.

NBA.com’s Expert Pick for Tonight – Al Jefferson – Jazz

“By the looks of it, I’m not telling most of you anything that you don’t already know. Tonight we’re going with Big Al. Last week I picked on Golden State with a couple of guards, and this time it’s a big man. Either way, this is a team that gives up PRA points in droves. Utah’s Al Jefferson is averaging 27.2 PRAs a game, and has been just as consistent, if not slightly better, by going for 28.7 PRAs in his past seven games. The new post presence for the Jazz has logged ten double-doubles so far, including the fifth game of the year against the Warriors, where he went for 31 PRAs behind his best rebounding performance (15) in his new uniform. I look for Al to come back from a tough outing at the Mavs with a typical strong performance in front of his home fans.”

Tim:

His “tough outing” was a 4-14 shooting performance where he only finished with 9 points and 8 boards and was benched down the stretch as the Jazz tried to come back from down 25.

Little too cold for my liking

Our Picks for Tonight:

Tim – Deron Williams – Jazz

John – Deron Williams – Jazz

Everybody Loves Deron ...

Tim:

I was stuck deciding between Jefferson, Millsap, and Williams for tonight. I didn’t want Jefferson because of his last outing and I really didn’t have any spectacular reason to play Millsap. I went with Deron Williams for his explosiveness. While averaging 22.7/4/9.8 on the season, he has dropped at least 32 points in his last two games and has reached over 40 in back-to-back games against very tough defenses in the Mavericks and Magic. News alert, the Warriors’ defense ain’t no good…

John:

With West’s performance in the rearview mirror, I’m pulling out a big gun tonight. I almost went with Al Jefferson like the expert and many of you, but instead I’m going with Deron Williams against the Warriors. Williams is averaging a little over 36 P1P’s per game this season and has gone over 30 in nine of the last ten games. Williams has registered over 40 P1P’s in the last two games for Utah and I fully expect over 40 tonight against Golden State .
