[VIDEO] Anderson Silva Documentary “Like Water” Debuts
Like Water is a documentary film about UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Directed by Pablo Croce and produced by Jared Freedman, the in depth and up close documentary chronicles Silva’s preparation and training for his UFC title defense against Chael Sonnen that went down last August at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA.
The Tribeca Film Festival:
“In the most brutal and often most misunderstood sport in the world, becoming a champion takes more than just blood, sweat, and tears. Like Water follows middleweight Ultimate Fighter Anderson Silva as he prepares to crown his four-year run as the unbeaten king of the sport with a record 12th straight win in the UFC. With intimate access to Silva and his intense training, the surprising and inspiring man behind one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time emerges.”
Like Water premiered Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. ET at AMC Loews Village in lower Manhattan and is getting rave reviews.
“The real Anderson Silva stands up — and stands out — in the documentary Like Water.” That from ESPN.
“Like Water” was a philosophy espoused by Bruce Lee and is one that the Middleweight Champion identifies with.
“Water gives life but it can also take your life,” Silva says. “Water comes in many shapes and sizes. It can be calm and it can be strong. I feel that represents myself in the Octagon. You have to be able to adapt and water adapts to whatever it is in.”
No word on whether or not it will get a wider release, or if it will make the jump to DVD/Blu-ray formats. I sure hope so, because looking at this trailer, and reading the reviews, I can’t wait to get a closer look at the greatest fighter of all time.
